Default Mp3 player recommendation

Hello everyone.

Today my old SanDisk Sansa 1GB died RiP my friend. You served me very well.

I need to go through this death and going to a new one.

I do not have any preference for the brand. But here what i need to respect:

~ 1: max 100$.
~ 2: Able to play flac file.
~ 3: Must have a good sound.
~ 4: nothing under 4GB of space...

Can you recommend me one ? THank you

Altho I have to ask.. why flac on a mp3 player? Total waste of space and the sound quality is gonna suck.

No what I am saying is that there are players out there that plays flac but to me its a waste of space for the player as sound quality is gonna be crap compared to using it on a good setup.

As ena said, there is no point to using flac on an mp3 player, wasted space and it'll sound bad.

I disagree completely. I don't know what kind of mp3 player either of you have used but FLAC files on my Cowon X5 through Grado Alessandro cans sound great. Far from crappy or sounding bad. That being said, if you are fairly restricted in your budget then you wouldn't notice any difference by using a high quality lame encoded VBR mp3 around 192kbs.

I'd vote for any Cowon unit. High quality components, plays more formats than ipods, and you can drag and drop your files making transfers super easy. Unfortunately it's out of your price range unless you can find a used one.

Your headphones are making the biggest difference.

I would agree with Cowon, though I haven't sampled the current generation....I haven't had to--my Cowon D2 has been going strong since roughly the same time Gen 1 iPods made their debut...
