I own the Corsair SP2500 2.1 speakers. The sound is amazing, the bass is clean and very powerful. I am using a Xonar Essense ST though so that does help.

I'm now officially on the hunt for a new 2.0/1 speaker system to replace my Razer Mako speakers (did manage to likely figure out what blew on them that killed them- click of death- but I'm almost positive they're a non replaceable part) I liked the size/audio reproduction on the mako, been looking at the 2500 but I'll have to find out if I can get a better price- my ideal budget is somewhere in the ~150 range though

I have a set of Bose Companion 3 since 2007. They sound really good and have high build quality.

Dragoon, Where abouts are you located? I'm actually looking to get rid of my 2500's. I think I'm a bit spoiled with the z5500's that I've been using for years and I like the surround.

Uber, I'm surprised but then again I haven't looked at those speakers since they first released a set for computer and they sounded absolutely terrible. Even my dad who was one of those "bose fans" at the time said they were crap.

Not sure which Bose set you heard but I have the Companion 3 series ii and it has mostly favourable reviews on amazon. For the price I'm sure there are better sounding 2.1 speakers but in terms of sound, ergonomics, and quality I think it is a good choice.

same thing happened to me, decided to get a pair of AV40s. You sacrifice some bass extension for pleasant cheap pair of speakers

I'm not sure maybe it was an earlier version? It was quite a few years back but they weren't very impressive. The C3s might have fixed any of the issues or are a completely different set of speakers than what I'm thinking.

I've been looking at the AV40s, what are the speaker dimensions though, I might not have a reasonable space for them if they're too big

Hmmm that's a fair bit away!

Umm lets see, no luck finding a tape measure :(... I took some pictures for you and stuck a standard sized CD case next to the speakers for you to give an idea.
