SPDIF Bracket/Adapter (where can I buy one cheap?) Does anyone know where I can find one for cheap, can't seem to find it listed on ncix. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about/looking for, it's exactly this: http://www.automotive-res.com/EX/11-...racket_LRG.jpg I need one as my htpc only has a line out on the back, however has an internal spdif (supporting up to 5.1) which I evidently need this adapter to do it. If anyone has one lying around, let me know if they work as intended (or want to part with it). |
It would be interesting to see how the optical is powered? -joe |
Powered? All it is, is the signal and ground, which then gets converted from a standard computer digital signal into an optical or cable signal. |
Holy crap, MemX wants $30 and it is not in stock. I may have one laying around at home, remind me next week (at work atm) to look for it if you have not found one by then. |
What the hell, 30$? I thought the thing would be worth/sold for around 10$ max. Talk about massive mark up... |

Those damn things are almost impossible to find. They were quite common back in the early P4 days and such but not so much anymore. I even looked for a long time to find one for my HTPC but gave up and just used HDMI |
I have a ton of P4's lying around, might be able to salvage one for you. Just give me money for gas to go to the post office and the cost of shipping. |
We probably have a bunch at work that are just sitting around doing nothing from our pre buying Dell crap days when we'd built our own systems. Not back in there til Monday though, 4 day weekend :bananafunky: |
Thanks guys let me know, trying to pay maybe 10$ vs the ridiculous 30$ + taxes and shipping new. Only reason I'm going this route is the htpc as it has no hdmi out (using dvi to hdmi, which obviously this dvi does not have sound on it). |
