really it's about what YOU think sounds good. nothing else matters. if you think $1 earbuds from the dollar store sound good then good for you! you have saved yourself tons of money! sometimes I wish I wasn't as picky as I am with how things sound, and I'm nothing compared to real audiophiles.

I can hear a noticeable difference in sound quality from when I used onboard, after I moved to a dedicated sound card the difference was great. I also have a Logitech Z906 setup though, if you are just using a 2.1 speaker setup you might not hear as much of a difference.

Can you i believe found a sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum in a trash can ?

Don't know what all that was about but ill take it, i have one all ready in my main pc im using atm and iv benched it vs $300 on-board sound hardware and it still owns it.

love to upgrade my self to the top of the line x-fi sound card but atm other things are more important.

Sadly most pc games out their the sound in em blows imho mostly on the 3d positional sound topic in 3d shooter games.
Its like being blind on a audio level.
As well a lot of the games out their don't support hardware sound atm and that's really sad as well as being cpu vampires.
