Default Onkyo

I've been debating whether to order the Onkyo SE-300 PCIE 7.1 channel Digital Audio Board Sound Card from a company called www.smartimports.net that's based in Japan. I would appreciate any and all suggestions my fellow Hardware Canuckers can give me as I've never ordered from abroad. Is this a good idea? Does anyone have some advise...words of wisdom for me... Thx.

Onkyo has launched the new WAVIO audio card (SE-300PCIE).
Featuring the best from Creative, this new SE-300PCIE comes with 20K2 X-Fi embedded technology with EAX Advanced HD 5.0 on Onkyo’s Original DIDRC circuitry (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry).

Creative is known for poor driver support thats why Auzentech sister company was born

they have a USA line 1-608-554-0455 to answer shipping

IMHO a good HTamp and tosi from MB works well

wait for a reviews and save $ headeche

Very interesting looking card, that's for sure.

However, Creative has recently dropped X-Fi and replaced it with Sound3D, but who knows if that makes much difference.

I've ordered from AliExpress (direct from China) without any issues. They send it via China Post which ends up in Canada Post's hands. Haven't had to pay any duty yet, it just takes about a month to show up

But are you that much of an audiophile to justify $435? ASUS's Xonar series or Auzentech's stuff might be sufficient...
