Default Corsair Vengeance 1300

I am currently looking at the Corsair Vengeance 1300 as a new headset as I have broken my Roccat Kaves.

I have the onboard sound that you get with the Asus Formula IV, but I have heard that the 1300 is good if you only have a good soundcard. Would it be better for me to spend a little more for the Vengeance 1500, with USB?

If it was up to me, I'd get the 1300, but also get an Asus Xonar DX. It's a good sound card for a good price, and then you'll have a soundcard moving forward so if and when your new headseat breaks, you'll already have the soundcard.

A soundcard will make no difference with crappy headphones though...keep that in mind. The Xonar DX is a Great soundcard, and will easily handle high quality headphones up to and perhaps over 55ohms resistance. These Corsairs look decent, but I would like to see some more reviews.
