question about speakers/hd555s

So my questions is if i am using logitech speakers with the volume controls on the desk. if i plug my hd555s into the headphone jack on the volume control for the speakers, am i gonna get as good of quaility as i would have if i plug it right in the soundcard?

And I'd take a song you know REALLY well, play 30 seconds with it jacked into the speakers, then the same 30 sec jacked into the soundcard and see if you can tell the difference.

z506... right now i just have the headphones. I want to buy speakers but i dont want to have to keep switching them out when i want my headphones on for FPSers

I used to plug my old 555's into my X-540's due to convenience. However, the sound quality did degrade (muddy bass, veiled sound).

Don't know what it'll be like with the z-506, but you can try it out.

I use X-540 speakers on a y-cable from my Xonar DX with my AD700's. When I use the headphones I just turn the speakers off, and change the setting in the driver. Works fine.

I've got a set of Z-2300's and a pair of HD 595's, all hooked up to an Auzentech Forte. If your card has a dedicated headphone out, I would highly recommend using it, instead of plugging it into the volume control. Are you using optical/digital input for your speakers out of curiosity?

I have the hd555's and I thought they sounded like crap plugged into my Logitech speaker headphone jack. I am running political to an old receiver and then out to the headphones and it sounds 10x better in my opinion. I got rid of the Logitech all together and matched the receiver with some old Sony book shelves and it sounds much better for both 2ch and headphones.
