BSOD portcls.sys (X-Fi Titanium)
I'm constantly getting BSOD's with my Creative X-Fi Titanium.

The soundcard performs fine when just listening to music or having a chat on Ventrilo.

Also i'm able to play a game but as soon as I adjust some sound settings in Windows while playing a game or doing some other stuff I instantly get the BSOD.

The BSOD say something with 'portcls.sys', but I still have to write down the exact error code when it occurs again.

What i've done so far:
- Disabled the onboard soundcard in the BIOS
- Cleaned old onboard drivers.
- Installed latest Creative drivers (2.17.0008)

I would try this, go to device manager and uninstall the Creative X-Fi Titanium driver and reboot if it is windows 7 it will automatically search for new hardwaredrivers and let windows install the driver this might fix your problem

With the driver that Windows installs I can't use the microphone input because I need to switch the 'Flexi jack' from Line-In to Microphone via the application that comes with the Creative driver.

but do you still get BSOD? you may only have to use part of the driver or a modded driver but like I said I would do what I suggested and see if this stops the BSOD if it does then it is a Driver issue , then you might be able to find a modded driver that would work

Yep, just tried what you suggested and i'm still getting the BSOD.

is this windows 7? maybe try older drivers and if that doesn't work try installing the drivers in winxp mode

Windows 7 64 SP1.

I've tried all the different drivers from the Creative website but none of them work..
What's that with installing the drivers in XP mode?

Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select the appropriate options in from the list in the following image.
Click Apply/OK.

4. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.

I gave that a go aswell but i'm still getting the same BSOD..

ok try this uninstall the card remove the drivers and try the on board sound and see if it still happens .
