I might be interested in finding some gently used 555's to do this on for when I want a sound that's a little more laid back. I love headphone mods, especially some of the crazy things people have done to Grado's.

Same here at first, but you will hear subtle differences in the bass hits and the treble notes once you do. The bass is more precise and deep, while the treble is clearer, imo.

This man speaks the truth. In truth, all you should hear is LESS bass, better detail, and a generally more balanced frequency response. The rest is placebo

It saves money as well as the sound intensity is more then the conventional one.

I believe you have quantity confused with quality

There should be chatter about this because of the exorbitant amounts of money 'hi-fi' manufacturers will charge for small (apparently even non-existent) differences, and all because they know that people will make stuff up to convince them of their purchases.
