My System Specs

Default Need a new subwoofer for home theater

Just got a new receiver that needs an active subwoofer (my old one is passive).

Going to run out tomorrow and pick one up. Any suggestions on brands or models?

I like energy speakers TBH. They're made by Klipsch but theyre less expensive.

My Boston Acoustics CS10 is pretty solid IMO. I think Best Buy has it on sale for Boxing Day too.

EDIT: Here's a link: Boston Acoustics 10" 100-Watt Subwoofer (CSUB10B) : Subwoofers - Best Buy Canada

For $150, it's a steal IMO for a 10" down-firing subwoofer.

Home Audio: Home Loudspeakers: Subwoofers: Soundstage 10" 150W Subwoofer (BFX10) | Visions Electronics

Sounds good and fairly inexpensive.

I got this for $199 after:
Klipsch 10" Subwoofer (RPW-10) : Subwoofers - Future Shop

It's almost too powerful. I'm in a basement apartment right under someone's bed room and it lets out a monster rumble even set really low.

Not enough info. Price? Size? Room? Frequency range? Does looks matter?

With subs, you cant beat HSU, SVS, Epik, or eD

I got my SVS from SVS Subwoofers Canada : sonicboomaudio.com, only authorized canadian dealer. As they are heavy and rather huge, i'd imagine shipping to NF would be rather unpleasant.

They are owned and not made by Klipsch, Big Difference. Energy is nothing alike Klipsch, on all criteria, very different speakers.

Just pointing that out, but yes, energy speakers are great nonetheless.

I have a KEF Kube 1 here thats cracking and popping like a SOB.
I'm not sure if it worth getting serviced or if its better to buy a new one.

You have quite a lot of options available by now, Polk Audio and Digital Design are my personal favorite.
