sound card needed?
I've recently acquired a set of klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a dedicated sound card.
I am currently using onboard audio on my gigabyte ma790x ud4p . But the speakers "whine" when I'm folding.

I'm not a big audiophile but should I be investing in a cheapish or secondhand soundcard?

Any help is appreciated, thanks

You really shouldnt leave the sub on when its not in use, it can and will burn... On the soundcard note you could get a decent auzentech for 140 or so, iv got a x-fi forte and im loving it (wish i had a prelude though)

thanks for the advice but my sub doesn't seem to have an on/off switch. However, folks on the klipsch forum said it's ok to leave it on.

Is there any other sound cards you (or anyone else) would recommend? I would like to have a few options to keep an eye out for boxing day.

I would just buy a cheapish soundcard in all likelihood if you don't think you would notice the extra sound quality.

Turtle beach would be the beat, though it may be a little costly but is too good.
