New Gaming Headset
 

Hi all i want to buy a new gaming headset i have done some reading
I use onboard sound on this motherboard Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3 it uses Realtek ALC888

The sharkoon uses optical toslink and seems like a great headset

The roccat Kave seems good to but uses my onboard sound card (is that good enough)

The HS1 is usb headset and have some great revieuws also

The Steelseries seems to be decent also

I would go with the Roccat Kave. I have a set and they are VERY good for gaming etc. Out of your choices,only the Roccats are true 5.1 analog. In my opinion,5.1 analog is the best set up for best surround and positional awareness. For the price and over all quality,go with the Roccat Kave.

Oke but is my onboard sound Realtek ALC888 good enough for this set ?

And how are the doing when listening music ( the dont have to be perfect )

On board sound is not that bad these days. You should have a Sound Card installed at some point as that will produce a far better sound. You defeat the purpose of good headphones and or desk top speakers by not having an equally good source. The roccats are very good indeed for music but they shine when gaming. If you want to step out a bit and get what I believe to be the absolute BEST set for Gaming,take a look at Psyko 5.1 Audio. They were $300.00 when first released but you can get them for less than $200.00 now. Good luck with what ever you end up with and let us know the results.

Yes they are very expensive, but totally worth it. It comes with it's own USB soundcard. The mic is simply amazing.

In my opinion,Analog gives the best sound over all. USB defeats the purpose of your sound card. True 5.1 is Analog.

Yup! You are correct. I missed that somehow. The Headphones DO look pretty good. By that I mean specs etc. Of all the 5.1 analog headphones available,the Sharkoon is one set I have not tried. If you decide to get those,let me as well as the rest of us know what you think. Be HONEST,if they are not what you really expected for the price etc.tell us all about it. I am ALWAYS looking to find the BEST 5.1 analog headphones,and,who knows, these might be the ones. Good Luck.

I use a set of the old Tritton AX360's and I love them. The only drawback is that they can be quite heavy over time. I'm sure that has been addressed in the newer revisions.

I have mine connected via optical cable and have a Zalman clip on microphone. The sound quality is phenomenal for both games and movies.
