Has anyone heard the new Q series? Is there a big difference between the older iQ series and the newer Q models?

I have my doubts you'll be able to notice any difference in terms of sound quality. Most of the 'improvements' between newer models and their older counterparts are generally aesthetics.

YouTube - New KEF Q Series

I posted over a Brit forum and they say there is a "huge" difference and I am bit intrigued by this. I just can't leave town at the moment to audition myself.

Will you have time to have a listen over at Visions and let me know what you think? The older iQ series is on sale and if there is no distinguishable difference I'll go for it. I just loved it when I first heard a KEF speaker not too long ago and I might just get one for myself.

After A and Bing them (happen to work at a Visions at the moment heheh), the Q and the IQ do sound different. Not sure which I prefer as they both sound great. It's one of those cases of one sounds better on this song, and the other on that. To my ears the Q are a bit flatter which I prefer, but was listening to some jazz on the IQs today and was impressed at the accuracy on the acoustic bass.

Thanks, man. I heard a little bit of both and the Q seems to be more open. As you mentioned, maybe will not sound the same with different songs/tunes.

Did you listen to the Q700 or the Q900? The Q900s are in my opinion the best speakers we stock at the moment. Well, I would say that if they could get us a set to sell hehe. Bi amp them with the right amp and they just sing. Sadly, we tried to bi amp the Q700s with an Onkyo 808. Sounded great until we tried to turn them up to THX reference on the amp. Turns out 135Watts x2 into each speaker was a bit much..... oops.

I did listen to the Q900 and though it sounded really good, it maybe too much for my living room. I will probably settle with the Q700 or Q500 depending on how much money I have after Christmas.
