Question Best Gaming Headet Value?

Need some advice:

I am shopping for a gaming headset, and am a little swamped by the varying opinions on them- the trouble is that most people have only ever owned one or two, and don't have much to draw on. Based on what I have read, and heard from friends, I am considering:

Medusa 5.1 pro gamers $114
Turtle Beach EarForce HPA2 5.1 $73
Icemat Siberia $45
and the Zalman ZMRS6F 5.1 headset $44

and Sennheiser PC151 $60

I think I might rather have 5.1 channels for better directional sound in FPS gaming, and I am not limting myself to one these models. My budget is also flexible as I am looking for the best value, not necessarily the cheapest or the best.

Thanks!

I ordered a set of http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...9&promoid=1087 these.

Haven't got them yet but friends tell me they sound pretty good even at the regular price and for 22 bucks I think they're worth the try. And for all you X-Fi users out there, they are NOT USB.

I have 3types, and while i did have medusa.. overpriced for the quality, the sound did not reproduce in some situations... in qwet [enemy territory], ut3, halo,WoW.. and hlf2 some things were flat and like tin and i could not tell where some pple where, the zalman's were very good and gave a positive experience the sound reproduction was very nice. and allowed for positional hunting ;) , meanwhile others will tell you the opposite.

Now the third set I have is oddly enough microsoft's lx 3000, which, i found to be the one I use 90% of the time light weight and very good at sound reproduction. plus vent use is wicked as people say i dont sound like crap and garbled or tinny....

but 1st vote goes to zalms 2nd to my lx 3000, 3rd the meds which I dont use at all, ... as for the others.. I rarely see em or even heard of em. so i cant give an opinion.

Thanks for the advice all!!- I ended up getting the zalmans- from what I've been hearing they seem to be great value and they're well suited to FPS.

I ended up getting them from Canada computers for 49 bucks- a little more than DC, but their shipping is only 6.99 for ALL ORDERS right now, and I needed to pick up a satellite dish as well so I odered them together- I'm quite pleased that I was able to get them both shipped for that little.

Let us know how they work out. I've got a great set of stereo phones, but I could go for a nice 5.1 set that actually work.

If you ever find a set that shuts out the world, has excellent bass, and won't hurt after a marathon BF2 session please let me know!

hehe- i think those features would probably run me more than 50 bucks- I think poor bass is the bane of all midrange headsets

I would go with anything from Sennheiser, the PC150 headset sounds really good and they are under 50$ a pair now.

Edit: Oops guess I should read more than just the first post! :p
