I just found out from ROBSCIX that the new X-FI Titanium HD card does NOT allow 5.1 analog connections. The only way is Digital or optical. Not good news for a high end sound card.

Not trying to sound like an ass here, but if you looked the pictures of the card when it was first announced back in March you could have known this. 2 channel analog inputs, 2 channel analog outputs, and optical/coaxial input/outputs.

I did look at the picture but I thought it had some kind of 'dongle' like the X-FI Forte for 5.1. If I missed it then I'm sure others did as well.

I wouldn't even have thought to check if a sound card would output 5.1 analog, and would have been extremely p/o'd to find this out after the fact.

What bonehead decided this was a good idea?

Exactly! I believe that Analog is the truest 5.1 surround. Many of us have analog 5.1 desk top speakers and headphones. I do. One thing for sure, it pays to ask questions. Thanks.

I never did get the new HD as it is not 5.1 analog. I got the Xonar Xense instead. The Headphones that came with it [PC 350] are no hell really. You can only use the Headphones with the Xonar Xense as there is no adapter to plug them into another sound card. They come with adapters to allow you to plug other headphones into the Xonar card but no way to use them otherwise. I will probably go back to an X-FI card when they come out with a new one with EAX 5 etc.

The Creative Hd was really developed to be used with Home Theatre Systems with the card outputing a Dolby Digital Live signal from the Optical Port to the Home Theatre Sound System.
