Default Logitech X-230 2.1 Speakers

I was thinking about getting a set of the Logitech X-230 2.1 Speakers to replace my 8 y/o Altec Lansings 2.1 set. I don't need a 5.1 system since my office is kinda small and I really have no room for 2 extra speakers and a centre channel.

Does anyone have these and if so how are they?

NCIX wants $54.89 for them

Buddy of mine has these there alright for a cheap pair of speakers. I think my Creative Inspire sound crisper IMO, I would go to Staples or a similar store and have a listen at a few pair then make a choose.

I'm running two of these here at home and I'm happy with them.

Certainly not a $200 set of speakers, but pretty decent for the price.

I have the 5.1 set of those and they're not bad at all, not too accurate for gaming but they do a pretty decent job for music. What I dislike about them is that the sound is very directonnial but can't blame them, most PC speakers are made that way.

At some point this week, I'll venture over to Future Shop of Best Buy and have a listen.

The X-230s sound alright, but keep in mind that they have huge peaks and valleys in the frequency response, the subwoofer is on the muddy side, and there are no tweeters, so don't expect immaculate reproduction.

Unfortunately that is a serious issue with the one way sats and subwoofer based system. The sats don't reach low enough and the sub doesn't reach high enough. This setup leaves a rather large "hole" in the mid-bass to high bass. If you can get a set with two way sats they would be significantly better. This setup would give you decent highs your lows may be muddied but don't expect alot of detail or articulation in the bass regions considering the information. While it is true these speakers will probably look like a moutain range when the spectrum is viewed. Alot of speakers will have this same downfall. Everybody wants flat response speakers but finding them and affording them is another story. You can use a equalizer to flatten out the response if it really bothers you and you have a way of measuring where the issues in the spectrum are.. Enjoy your speakers.
