Default New Asus Xonar audiophile card coming

First i have heard of it, thought i would pass it along. Sennheiser and asus team up to redo the Xonar Essence from the looks of it. Looks sexy with the chrome cover. Too bad it comes with PC350's i would have liked something a little more audiophile, but i guess it makes sense. Hopefully this is available sans phones.

Sennheiser and Asus working together? That's pretty hot. I wonder what major improvements they've made over the 'vanilla' Essence STX.

I have to wonder if those are 350's. They've got 1/4 jacks and different emblems on the earpieces. And considering that Senn just came out with their new PC360's, this would be a good way to get them a little publicity, since the 350's reception has been pretty lukewarm.

Well according to the articles, the 350's that come in that package run at 150 ohm, which is a lot more than the normal ones. They also alude to the fact that they may be more tweeked. The card itself sounds like it is fairly normal stx, but has the 1/4 plugs for both the headset and the mic, both amplified, and a serial port for surround speakers, which is new, since the stx is really made to be a headphone only card, only really with support for speakers via digital. This new card supports speakers analog as well as digital, which is Hawt imo

Is this going to be their flagship card? Doesn't really say much about it. I do like the fact that it has a breakout cable.

The Creative Titanium HD is another new card about to be released. It too looks good. No prices that I could find yet.

Audiophile soundcard? lol!

An 'audiophile' would forgo a soundcard entirely and opt for a separate usb/dac amp. But other than that I still look forward to seeing new cards from Creative, ASUS, & HT|Omega. I recently got the Titanium Fatal1ty Pro (only because it was on sale) and despite have a lousy name is a fairly decent card for everday casual music listening/games.

Not necessarily. The DACs and OPAMPs used in high end soundcards get pretty damn good. As good or better than a lot of external DACs.
