Lightbulb Speaker Recommendations?

I'm looking for a set of 2.0 or 2.1 speakers for $100-150.

I've been reading good things about the edifier S330D and the optical input is a great bonus. The background hum always bothered me...

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I've had the S330Ds for a while. They are excellent for the price. However if you can still find them, Klipsch Pro media 2.1 is better.

Also try M-audio AV40s.

I found a set of promedia 4.1 for $95 locally.

Are there any major differences between the 2.1 and the 4.1 other than the extra speakers?
And is it possible to use them as 2.1 speakers, if i don't have the space to setup the rears?

You can use only 2 of the 4 speaker but 4.1 for 99$$$ sound cheap to me. I would stick with a 100-150 2.0 2.1 price tag so you will have quality isntead of quantity. I use M-Audio AV30 ( 2.0 ) and have nothing to complain for sound quality. AV40 should be awesome and S330Ds are also a really nice piece of hardware.
