I'm using a Cambridge SoundWorks FourPointSurround FPS1800 4.1 Speaker System (54 Watts)

It's pretty good, little outdated now but I love it

Your speakers are very dated. I gave those same speakers I was using to my gf last year. I replaced them with refurbished logitech X540's and an Auzentech xplosion 7.1. These speakers are a good deal for a desktop setup. There should be a location near you. You can get them here.

Im using a d2x which i bought for the best possible directional sound for gaming. Games are getting away from eax, so Asus not supporting eax 5 isnt a big deal. If i had to do it over, I would probably buy a dx or d2, as I find myself not using alot of the features that the d2x boasts.
Im using logitech z5300, and audiotechnica ad700, and im very happy with this card for gaming, movies etc.

edit: typo.. had "creative" instead of "asus"

The Xonar D2X is likely my favourite PCIe multichannel sound card out there. But I would look in to upgrading your speakers before you spend $200 on a sound card.
