Default audigy 4 vs Realktek alc888

Hello Hardware canucks! I am new here!Actualy i am in big dilemma.I have bought a new HD and i am gonna install W7 64bit .Now actually i am usigy audigy 4 as a soundcard.But the drivers of creative are heavy from what i think and it doesnt have any eax or other capabilities that it has on Win xp.I am not using sound for games i don care for EAX.I actually using card for Music using Winamp!My pc has onboard Realtec HD 888.so i am asking u whats better? to keep audigy 4 or onboard ? Sry for bad english

anyone else ? any opinionn? actually i think their drivers arent good and the boot of windows is slow

The drivers aren't very good, but the sound quality is much better. I personally think it's worth dealing with bad drivers for the amount of improvement you get, but if you don't agree, you can always send the card to me instead ;).

There are some updated drivers fore the 8888. You can plug head phones into the front of the comp.

Con: no mixer in latest driver to ajust sound to my preferances.

i have 5.1 and seems at w7 the bass and treble tones resets to default every time windows starts i have to set it manually every time!Damn creative :@ anyway ive got this card 4 years

I was talking about Creative's drivers, not Realtek's.

Hey i have found some new drivers called KX for creative soundcards and they say its very good .U know anything about them ?

Unless you have good headphones/speakers, or have very sensitive hearing, chances are you may not be able to tell the difference between onboard and the Audigy. Onboard sound has come quite far since the old days.

If you have a decent amount of ram and relatively modern hardware, the creative drivers shouldn't make that much of an impact. Your call really, if you have a free slot and it's not impeding the airflow of a video card nearby, then why not use it if you got it?
