Your mobo has digital out BUT does it have Dolby Digital or DTS connect? If not your games will be in STEREO when using a digital system.

Heh, here's the catch. I always though that every cards "both pci and onboard" with an optical output would automaticly support every, or at least most digital features like DD and DTS. :/

So even if the Decoder does most of the work because it's the DAC from it instead of the one from the soundcard that will be used, you still need a decent soundcard to have those features...

It doesn't look like your Mobo supports Dolby Digital Live! or DTS connect. SOme of the higher end ones do. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

You ordered a Prelude right? -Those features will be available shortly for that card.

no no Im gona have to use digital at first because of my mobo. Once I get the card I will surely go for analog.

When using onboard audio your digital output will be in stereo for music and gaming.

If you watch movies and set the software and onboard to pass through mode it will pass the encoded audio from the DVD to your speaker system. You will have 5.1 in DVD, if your system is setup properly.
