I have been using an Omega Striker and love it for gaming and music. I am moving up to a Auzentech Prelude so if you want I can give you my Strkier for only $50 shipped with box, cd, manual and of course it is in perfect condition.

I have a Xonar D2X paired with my HD555 and it sounds absolutely amazing.

At this price your better off getting the Asus STX since it will bring out more of HD555, plus it's got a decent Headphone amp with good sonic qualities

I also read somewhere that the xfi cards are better for gaming but sound quality deserves a lot to be desired
Not true, the Forte is made by Auzentech not creative. The sound quality issue in the past were related to creative Hardware+drivers. Xfi technically is superior for gaming in comparison to the Asus, as the latter has to use emulation. However keep in Mind many Hi-tech modern games such as the New Battlefield BC2 uses it's own propitiatory software sound engine which yield amazing results. Curse that engine is offloaded to the CPU but with Quad cores it's not even a hitch.
