Creative labs card were a must have in 2003 and 2004, but they have been victim of their winning. Now the card are expensive and give a mid-range quality product. You can have in many other brand same quality for half the price. Take a look at products named Fatal1ty and you will notice that...they are all shit load. OCZ Fatal1ty PSU, Zalman Fatal1ty CPU cooler, Creative Fatal1ty and Creative labs Fatal1ty headset.
Enaberif Is right with the HT Omega better then all creative for like 80$. I can't tell you to test but, if you have quality speaker or headset + high quality music, you will notice the difference in sound between these.

Thanks guys! So I'm getting the idea that the Sound Blasters aren't so good after all. The reason why I want a front panel is because I want to be able to easily plug in my headphones when I need it like I already do. Right now, I connect my speakers to the rear end of my computer and my headphones to the front of my computer. Hope that helps!

My only question about these sound cards is; do they have the technology the Sound Blaster have for emulating surround sound with stereo speakers and headsets? This is a feature that really attracted me to the X-FI Xtreme Gamer. Most of the reviews I read about the X-FI Xtreme Gamer have been positive. Any ideas?

One more question guys... Out of all the sound cards Enaberif just listed, which is the best?

EDIT: Just to let you know guys, I have ruled out the Asus Xonar and I am currently looking at the AuzenTech Forte and the HT Omega Striker. Which do you guys think is better?

Striker for sure, the Auzentek is also good but a bit expensive. Ho and for surround emulation, bullshit;) It can do for right to left and vice-versa but for front to back it will be a big black-hole son don't really waste dream for that and sleep on a box with a real sound card in:)
This is my heart punch right now, well priced good looking, you can plus your front panel audio jack in and well it's black and goldy:P

NCIX.com - Buy HT Omega Striker 7.1 Channel PCI Sound Card 24BIT DTS Dolby Digital Live S/PDIF IN/OUT Coaxial - STRIKER_7.1 In Canada.

BTW, is the prelude any good? My only problem with the striker is that it doesn't use EAX 5.0 instead it uses 2.0. Will this really make a difference? Thanks!
