I couldn't really tell you because the sound card market has really slowed down substantially. I've had my X-Fi Fatal1ty for over three years now and it's been great. I can't wait to get 5.1 speakers for it. I paid a lot of money for it back then but now it's pretty cheap. Worth every penny.

i still say auzentech forte, you can find it on sale somewhere, almost all the time. Ncix had them for like 99$ the other week.

Before you jump and spend that money on a sound card, what is the speaker system you are working with. A great sound card can't make a crappy speaker system sound better

LOL I've been with my good old Creative X-Fi Fatality Professional Series it has the golden connectors (they don't make those anymore) the unit is crisp and it sounds bloody amazing - as much as people complain over drivers and CL - I have NEVER *EVER* had any issues in XP or VISTA - You don't need to spend shitload of money on a soundcard unless you are going to do music production and require some professional DACs - and if you have crappy pair of speakers or cheap crap headphones you probably shouldn't waste too much money.

I'll second Crisk's choice on the xonar dx.. Im quite happy with mine.

Does the xonar dx come in a PCI bus?? I really don't want to put my sound card between my 2X videocards.
