Is Realtek that comes with Asus P5Q enough to simulate a decent surround sound or do I have to buy dedicated sound card?

Just played COD4 with Realtek audio set to 7.1 with my stereo headphones and I think I've been getting pretty good directional audio.

I bought the plantronics 377, 15 bucks new on E-bay. Should sound better than what I have no and be much more comfortable.
