If you game at all you need good positional audio, forget stereo.

Does anyone have any experiences they'd like to share on this card?

I would have suggested the HT Omega Striker or the Auzentech Xplosion over that card.

I would have, but they're PCI-E, and I only have PCI slots available....

No they are not. They are both PCI cards only.

Auztentech Prelude/Forte and Asus cards are PCI-E

Prelude's still PCI only, unless something's come out very recently.

5.1 headphones are a gimmick. You can't get good positional audio with drivers that close to your ear. The only way to get good positional audio is separation of the drivers. Not only that, but 5.1 headphones are nothing but crap for music and almost never come with the same build quality as a good pair of stereo headphones.

If you're using year old drivers. Tons of people are running Creative cards and Vista just fine. If people can't get them to work properly together, they're doing something completely wrong.
