Edifer M1300 or M1350: A Temporary Speaker Solution....

I will be getting a 2.1 speaker setup, until I save the money for a 5.1 setup. My choice is as follows:

M1300:
Edifier M1300 Multimedia Speaker

M1350:
Edifier M1350 2.1 Multimedia Speaker

Can someone tell me what the difference is, as there is a difference?!

I was going to get the Logitech X-230 but FactoryDirect is sold out....

Different drivers in the satallites in the M1350's. I would choose the M1350 if possible, but either set is gonna sound decent enough and far better than the Logitechs.

What about the watts, the X-230 have a total output of 64W, while the M1350 have 8.5W?

Watts doesn't mean a whole lot, and I would never believe Logitech claims on wattage. The Edifier will be a significant improvement over the Logitechs.

The total wattage you are referring to is the peak wattage the actual RMS value is
32watts.

6w x 2 Speakers
20w subwoofer

I know little about Edifier, but judging from review its pretty popular.

I reviewed quite a few Edifier units and was very impressed with the sound quality of their units. They have a some lower or mid priced units with full wooden sats and subwoofer. I have tested a few units from Logitech in the past also and comparing the sound of their mid price units I always found Edifier to have superior sound quality.

To note, Look at Edifier international and you will see some amazing looking and spec'd speakers. There new S750, S550-IIRC is a competitor to the Z-5500's Edifier have full wood Sats that are two way and very formidable subwoofer. However I am unsure if these larger system will hit the North American market.

They need to get their new 5.1 set out on the market and fast.

Z5500s need to be told off and fast as they have never really been a good set but unfortunately there is nothing on the market at this time worth while.

Also you have to take into consideration that most people who buy a 5.1 system usually never properly set it up and leave the rears on the desk defeating the purpose which is another reason why 2.1 has taken over.

But in my personal opinion Edifier > Logitech on all levels

Yes, the new Edifier S750 and S550 can compete with if not surpass the Z5500's Here have a look Here: S750
The Edifier system has full wood Sats with two way driver for mids and high range.
Where as the Logi's are plastic sats with one driver...
Massive wooden subs and 500 Wats of power. I would love to test this system out.

When I bought my Auzentech Xplosion and picked up the Edifier S5.1 system I thought I was crazy for dropping so much money but you know.. its been a great purchase for my computer.
