And yeah I agree the Z-5500s definitely don't sound as good as my Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1s. (Yes I have both systems in my house) However the Z-5500s are basically the only high-end 5.1 PC audio solution out there unless you want to move up into home theatre gear.

I have the Z680's which are the predecessor of the Z5500. They sound better than the Z5500's too, but they are hard to find. Either get the Z5500 or spend some real money on high quality stuff.

The Klipsch are good, but I can easily find better for not much more than they cost. C-Media has some studio reference stuff that you could get for roughly $700 for 2 speakers and a sweet sub that would pound anything Logitech and any Klipsch PC system.

Do you have the proper space to setup 5.1 speakers?

Most people usually just end up putting the rears on their desk or not using them.

well on second thought...xonar dx looks about my budget lol.in between auzen x-plosion and the xonar dx for cards....speakers...i like the g51's..they're more in my price range ..i know a place i can get for under $100 lol .
I have to agree with the Logitech comments though, they're built sturdy and i've heard good things about their customer service.speakers im thinking G51, or a pair of studio M-Audio speakers....i've worked with monitor speakers and they're just amazing...may not be 5.1..but would cut it for me =P

The Xonar DX is probably the best sounding card at that price point for just straight sound quality. It is a really good sounding card for the $80 or less price point...

if your up for a spending some more cash check out the prelude it combines the EAX support of an X-FI, the digital audio support for DTS Connect and DDL plus i believe it has replacable opamp chips :) and i think ncix has it on sale right now for like 139 ish. which is a steal.

You can get the G51 series for under $100.00? the reason why I ask is because the cheapest I found was at NCIX under their Black Friday sale

NCIX.com - Buy Logitech G51 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System 155W RMS Black - 980-000100 In Canada.
