I know many people who have had trouble with Creative built cards only to replace them with Prelude and have the issue vanish. The hardware is totally different...
If your worried, jus make sure your compauter parts dealer has a return policy, if it doesn't work return it....

Just an update. Got the Prelude today and installed it. Working perfectly so far, fingers crossed. I'll update this if it starts to give any trouble at any stage.

Just wanted to put that in there because I couldn't find any definite answer to this when I was searching the forum before I started this thread. Hopefully this will save anybody having issues in future the bother.

I love my prelude. Great card and the driver support is better than Creative's. Although the card uses the X-Fi chip the PCB is totally different and the drivers (which are based on Creative's) have been tweeked to work on this card and don't have the same issues. They also get regular updates (about every 4 months) unlike the creative drivers. OH, my mic works great!
