Question Does anyone know much about the SRS (labs) Audio Sandbox?

I was reading on the NCIX forums that some guy installed SRS (labs) Audio Sandbox and with onboard audio it gave him comparable sound quality to that of a sound card. I was looking into getting a sound card but if this works I may not. Does anyone know if this could be possible? Has anyone used the SRS (labs) Audio Sandbox before?

I'd be skeptical. In a blind-test between a good sound card and modern onboard, I'm pretty sure most people would fail miserably. I consider myself a fairly discerning, but I'm pretty sure I'd fail a few times too. But you can only do so much in software, before you have to turn that data into actual sound and send it to your headphones/speakers, and that's where onboard audio loses out.

In which OS? Has this person tried going from XP to Vista with onboard and heard the difference in audio quality due to Vista's sound processing? Which onboard sound? Many questions unanswered here that can affect the outcome...

Enhancers are usually no substitute for good quality audio hardware.

Cool Audio Sandbox

lol small world.

that's actually my post I started at NCIX. Hello fellow Canucks!

That was a very interestng reply and I've been looking for more information on the Sandbox software. I did see a possible 14-day trial available but after i saw it was downloadable only using torrent I didn't investigate it any further. I am a little sceptical about it and I'm confident in saying I'm fairly sure that hardware will out perform software and add I'm definately not an expert. I would be extremely interested in finding out too.

Still looking for a definative answer on my question at that site, but that's another post

anywoo, i thought I would post that if you're interested.
