Default Need new headphones, 75/25% music/gaming

I use headphone for all my computer listening, be it music or gaming, and am presently investigating the possibility of getting a mic-headset. However, I listen to lots of music (all genres) and consider the quality of my music more important than my gaming.

For the last year I've been using THESE headphones, and they've actually done amazingly well. Supposedly, they were selling for upward of $100 on introduction, and their specs on paper almost seemed to justify it, but I got them for $30 on sale and that price seems to be sticking around so far. So I'm open to to the possibility that they're actually second-rate, and that there's something noticeably better available.

So what I'm looking for is some a good set of phones (closed, preferably), with a built-in (and fold-away) mic, that are comfortable for long periods of time. A lot of possible candidates seem to have reviews suggesting that their response curves are skewed towards gaming, and their bass-ends are rather limited. My budget is preferably under $150, but am open to pricier stuff if it can be justified. No wireless, please.

Thought? Suggestions?

You have the PC350. I heard they were great, but I don't have a pair myself.
NCIX.com - Buy Sennheiser PC350 Gaming Stereo Headset 10-26000HZ 150OHM 10FT Black Noise Cancel Mic - PC350 In Canada.

I have a pair of Icemat Siberia which I like, but I'm starting to be annoyed by the mic (seperate from the headset). I will probably change them soon.

Yeah, believe me, I'm looking really hard at those 350's. But I see a few reviews suggesting that they're not quite as good for music. Not sure what to think about that... got a week to decide, I suppose.

Myself if I was in the market for a headset it would be either the 350's or the hd555 with a zalman mic, the 555 run a little more than the sale priced 350's though.

Plus then there is the cost of the zalman.

I would go for the 350's there going to be better than most out there maybe not up to the 555 but the 555's cost more.

I just bought Tritton Ax360 from newegg.ca got them Monday and let me say I hate them! save your money

You have to buy extra cables to use them $20-45 bucks and there heavey .If you hook them up optical you can not use your microphone .if you dont use the Decoder box they sound like crap and even worst the mic was junk and sounded awful my plantronics cheap set where way better then these !

I going to try the 350's next so will let you know..

ax360's are going back!

I got a $200 pair of AKG's and they are orgasmic. I honestly had to download better quality music to match the quality of the headphones.....its ridiculous. Kinda expensive, but you get 2 types of ear cusions, as well as 2 cables. 1 9ft straight, and a coiled Cable. The Coiled is awesome for computer use because you dont run it over with your chair! I recently ordered a pair of M-Audio Studiophile Q40's from Revolution Audio Canada - Online Sales - M-Audio Studiophile Q40 . They should be arriving on friday. But they do seem like a very good quality headset according to M-Audio Q40 Impressions (long w/pics) - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio . I don't know if you have an amplifier to drive them or not. But if you are interested when I receive the phones I can report how they sound with/without an amp.

I also ordered the Zalman ZM-MIC which can be had for under $5 @ Bestdirect.

I was contemplating the M-Audio's actually to compliment my AV40's Lol. But the AKG's just look fantastic, and I've heard nothing but good things (pun intended)

I don't know why more people don't go with AV40's or other powered monitors instead of going the route of Logitech, etc. I am pretty sure they enjoy them a whole lot more.
