Default Vista antivirus

I am trying to broaden my horizons as I shop for antivirus for my new computer but I've never tried anything other than symantec, so I'm wondering what's out there that's particularly good value, and geared for vista?

AVG using it on vista ultimate now It is GREAT!

AVAST is a second choice(for me) ran it too previous (have the two tray icons run merged.)

These Av's are one of the few "if its free that all its worth reasonings" thats simply NOT true!!!

I second AVG. Been using it for many years, never let me down. Updates once daily.

AVG ROCKS! Symantec....not so much! I found that Symantec was a huge system hog!

Ps. And it's free...why would you spend your money?

Symantec the traditional say norton 2007 av etcetera can really be picky about say certain Windoze features you don't have set the "way they deem them to be"

I have read and heard that NOD32 is currently the best anti virus out there. Unfortunately i don't know from experience. I use Norton myself.

Norton is crap whether its the Symantec or not.

Bitdefender, NOD32, Avast are all good.

One isn't better than another as you sometimes need 2 or 3 to clean pesky antiviruses.

I wouldn't run anything other than Kaspersky or NOD32 ... AVG free is sufficient for most people, but definitely doesn't compare to the top tier AVs ...

Of course, the most important thing to keep your computer virus free is how you use it ...
