AVG here again, i dont let it run on its own, but its there for when i download something shady, and i set it to do its thing whenever i'm not going to be using the computer for a while. Again, surf smart and you needn't worry so much about Viruses. Who gets viruses these days anyway... its always trojans, worms and malware now... theres no money in viruses...

If you want a good free one, i believe the best is BitDefender.
The free version of Bitdefender is only a virus scanner and does not provide any active protection, so it's not really intended as a primary AV.
