6 watts- I think that's the max my mobo headers can handle- there must be quite a few that can't take that much. I would definitely run them from the PSU.

IDK I never use the mobo's headers always run my fans off of a fan controler have for years since the tornado/AXP days.

You don't run them from the motherboard

They need a fan controller.

Damn, that's tempting. I'm sure my fan drawer has room for a few more fans... Unfortunately, they're way out of my rpm range, even when undervolted.

You can run them from the motherboard- see the connector in the pic- What I was saying is that one shouldn't do it.

Read their disclaimer.

Connector: 3pin w/ rpm monitoring
We strongly suggest you refer to your motherboard manual to make sure your Case Fan Headers can handle this fan before plugging it into your motherboard.

A motherboard should not be used and a fan controller should.
Current: .52 Amp
Power: 6.24 W

When they are undervolted to 7v they are the BEST performing 120x38mm on the market.

Quiet and lots of air movement.

Depends on your board. The manual for my Maximus claims that each header is good for up to 12W, or 40W combined. Although I think I'd have to have a pretty good reason before I tried pulling 12W off a fan header, but for 6W, I wouldn't hesitate.
