Anyone know if this cooler causes any issues with blocking RAM slots when used on an X38 board, such as the Asus Maximus Formula?

One thing I wanted to know, is those push pins. Is the heatsink solidly attached to the motherboard, or it looks like it will snap in the motherboard because it's too heavy. I want to buy this heatsink, but I don't want it to snap and fall on my video card.

Can you give details on that ?

even if the top mounts aren't properly secure the weight will tug at it so it stays.

i just got one of these and installed it. i didnt remove my motherboard, and did it just like you suggested in the review. it worked pretty good. the only problem was that i dont have needlenose pliers and had to use my shaolin finger powers to attach the fan. i had to take out my gpu to get the bottom rubber fan mount, and the other bottom one (on the psu/top side of the case) was pretty hard to fit my whole hand in to reach passed my psu. pushpins feel pretty tight to me. i grabbed the top of the heat sink and shook it pretty violently to make sure it felt solid. cant wait to really put the boots to it (when my ram gets here).

Okay I'm having a love hate relationship with this thing right now... It refuses to properly attach to my mobo... the pins just arn't all clicking, however I gave up on it and left it with a pin not clicking... probably not the best idea but my fingers are very sore... so what I'm thinking is this... I need to remove the pins and use the screws or whatever they are from the other side of the motherboard. Anyone know what I'm supposed to buy to do this?

Oh and how do you remove the push pins?

Thanks!

ps: It has lowered my temps by 15 degrees from the stock one!!

The Thermalright 775 backplate and spring loaded bolts can be installed on this heatsink with little effort It would be the perfect solution to replace the pushpin!

I am not sure what you mean but this is how you would remove the pushpin from the bracket.

Very simple! Just turn the pushpin to the release position and pull the two parts until it stops. Then use a nail file to lift the tab in the slit. Do the same on the other side. Now yank the two parts and it should come out all the way. Yank on it a little harder with a little wiggle and the two parts will come off.
