Default Noctua NH-U12S vs Corsiar H80i?

I've been looking up some reviews of the NH-U12S and it is VERY quiet and seems to be able to go head to head with closed loop liquid coolers like the H80i.

I am looking at an Anandtech roundup on a 2700k @ 4.4 Ghz 1.45v and getting:
H80i (balanced mode) load temp 44.6*, noise 38.7 dB load 32.7 idle

NH-U12S load temp 47*, noise 30.7 dB load and 30 idle (ambient noise).

I plan to be over-clocking a i7-4820k and the thermal headroom on that seems really generous so I'm wondering if there is any need to spend the extra money on a H80i instead of the NH-U12S?

I personally am not really a fan of any of the AIO liquid coolers if silence is a concern. Their dBA might be lower but the pumps they use tend to have a higher pitched whine to them. At least this has been my experience.

Yes, I agree, my H100 pump is a bit annoying when basically idle. At load it isn't as noticeable. Still, if I can fit a 2x120mm rad in my case, I will probably go with an AiO loop.

I can't hear my H60 pump at all. This is my 4th AIO cooler and the only one I could ever hear the pump was the H100.

H60 #1 silent
H80 #1 silent
H100 #1 noisy airbubbles always trapping in pump(bad unit?)
H60 gen2 #2 silent

Now the fans they come with that is a whole other story! Loud as balls. Need replacing for sure.

Personally I like the AIO's just for aesthetics. They don't block the whole motherboard from view.

I honestly couldn't stand my H60 at all. Bought it for an HTPC and the whine drove me insane. After a few days I migrated it to a server. Then eventually sold it. I am pretty anal when it comes to computer noise. If I can hear my computer at all it is too loud.

Yes the aesthetics of a AIO are awesome :D I would go with lowfat on this one that being pick about noise you do get annoyed with the small noise of the pump when your room is quiet. But sometimes one part is just not as "good" as the next.
