Default Better performance without hole in side panel?????

Hey guys, i tried to put a panel to block the 25cm hole i have in my side panel ,was just a hole with no fan in it,and i tested temps, this is weird,i have -4c on the gpu with the hole blocked, but the graphics card was actually exhausting heat through that hole quite a bit !? Is that normal? Tested with 10 minute benchmarks.

Now the card is not hitting the temp target for summer

It's normal. You get a more smooth flow of air (in the front/bottom and out the back/top...and hot air rises). A side fan/vent gives a spot where air comes into the case from a direction perpendicular to the flow and messes it up. People have various opinions about this, but that is mine. I blocked the side vent on my antec 300 when I bought it and tested it after I put my gtx 460 in and confirmed better temps on the gpu and CPU ( less dramatic then yours, but a couple degrees). The only way I would use a side fan is with a hot running gpu (sli gtx 480 comes to mind).

I've always hear that positive case pressure is best. More air coming in than leaving as well. Not sure if that's true. But most cases come equipped for negative pressure.
