Default Budget fan controller opinions

Just looking around for some possible fan controllers. It would mainly be for the two Scythe slipstream 1200rpm fans in the front of my Antec 300...want to bring them down a touch in RPM (maybe a 1000ish). Budget is max $40, but less is better (just a basic voltage drop and not being ugly is all I am after). From what I can see right now I see the following 3 options:

1. Scythe Kaze Q....$12 its cheap and looks like it would do the job (just need to see if I have an adapter for my 5.25" slots (if I don't its a no go)

2. NZXT Sentry 2 is around $25...looks good

3. Bitfenix recon touch is around $35...also looks good

In all honesty I am thinking strongly about the sentry 2, but I have ZERO experience with fan controllers. Anyone have thoughts on these choices with my needs and budget (or other better options)?

1- Simple, reliable, nice.

2- Not a fan of touch screens.

3- Had one, never managed to get it working properly.

I'm now running a Scythe Kama Master flat, love it. simple and no knobs sticking out.

1) Burned two of them out (no idea why they say they can handle x amounts of Watts)

2) Sentry 2 is good, used a few in builts. They are adequate if sometimes a little tempermental on the touch

3) Just got one, works good. has massive amounts of hardwired cables, which sucks. But for the cost I think its the best of 3.

Can't control them from the motherboard header? It sounds like you want a mostly permanent adjustment as opposed to a need to constantly control them.... how about one of the molex voltage drop mods?

Yeah, if it is a permanent change you want just do the 7v mod, or if that's too slow, just grab a few resistors and experiment. The noctua LNAs use 50-80 ohm resistors, but the best one for you will depend on the current of your fans.

OR, if it's just the two fans, replace them with PWM fans instead of buying a controller.

I happened to have owned 3 fan controllers and the best of them all has to be the fractal design adjust 108. It does what it's supposed to do. NZXT Mix Sentry failed to power up my fans unless I had it at max. NZXT Mix Sentry Mesh will be the second best I have ever owned. Take the Fractal Adjust 108 and it comes with 2 power optiond (SATA or Molex) and I used the SATA power connector to keep my PC clutter free. I hope this helps. Oh, it's also much cheaper than the other two.

Sorry for hijacking but just didn't want to create another thread asking few question about fan controller.

I just got a Scythe Kaze Master II, haven't install it yet. want to ask, I can only control the speed on PWM fans only right?

You can control any fan with it, doesn't have to be PWM fan.
