Default Megahalems vs H80

I have used a prolimatech Megahlems for last 2 years. I have used many cpu's and different sockets in the last 2 years. I have recently purchased H80, so I can get into LGA 2011 sockets. I have read AKG"s reviews on H80 and Megahalems. But vs each other how better is a H80 if any?

I think the h-80 will edge out a win when overclocked, and with high speed fans, I used to run a silver arrow, and high speed fans only help air coolers so much.

Yea eh, I have always used air coolers, I was never a fan of watercooling etc. I love my Mega tho, I have had some massive oc's with it

Oh yea, what would you use for 6 cores tho? H100? I am not sure if there is a huge difference in performance between H100 and H80. or is there?

The H100 is the same block, but is a two rad fan instead of single.
So I think you will notice a difference in cooling the LGA2011 quad core.
From what I have read the Noctua D14 does just as well as the H100.

In a well ventilated case (eg. HAF series) the NH-D14 will do as well as the H100 for less $$

And my old cooler beats the Nh-D14 by 2-3C , it wasn't enough to keep my 950 cool @4.3+ this is why I tell people to steer away from air with the new socket, 1155 sure use air, but the new enthusiast socket needs more cooling, more power/ more cooling needed. And yes my case has awesome ventilation, stuffed full of GT AP-15's and also no side panel.

Id go H80 for ease of use and install. H100 for shear power. Air just doesn't cut it unless you got a LOT of internal case air movement.

H80 if you live in adecent ambient conditions, with the proper fans any of the top coolers is a beast. Coolermaster TPC, X6 elite, Megahlems, DH14, H80 all are excellent. Any top cooler save the H100 or a dedicated loop will 9/10 get you very close to the same overclock/temperatures with overvolting. H100 and similar are in a league of their own, they can just simply absorb far more heat in a given time frame, that and more liquid takes longer to get hotter as well.

I think the differences will be minute given good fans, but there are other coolers that out of the box are close to if not better then the mega as well. DH14 and mega were top coolers and still are, but there is also quite a few coolers that can achieve similar cooling sometimes at a lower price with less hassle of getting the proper fans etc.

The Antec h20 920 beats the hell out of both corsair's. I had the H100,and the H80,and the 920 runs a bit cooler, and much much more quiet. It took me a while to find the right cooler for my limited air flow,Level 10. I paid a little more, but it was well worth the extra coin.
