Default Problems with Corsair Stock fans?

So I yanked the stock corsair fans off my H100 so I can replace them with some CM turbine masters in push pull with my CM excaliburs. When I finally looked closer I noticed a ring of oil on the inner housing of the fan(on both fans). Last I had this happen was on a Scythe fan and it died prematurely. Anyone else have this happen with the stock corsair fans?

Note: Fans were mounted horizontally and ran full power 24/7 for 4 weeks.

Happens quite often to cheap sleeve bearing fans from what I've seen. The fact that you mounted them horizontally probably accelerated the issue.

A little surprised to see it happen to Corsair though, they usually don't take risks with potentially low quality OEMs.

Could just be a bad set that went through QC. I haven't heard of that happening elsewhere, nor have I experienced it first hand.
Interesting to see, but nothing note worthy unless it happens to more people (like the H100 Fan controller issue).

I thought the 800D stock fans were about the quality of thermaltake fans (not very good).

I've often wondered why it's so hard to get their stats lol

I'd reach out to Corsair and let them know, they have excellent customer service and I'm sure they'll take care of the issue and also look into the source of the problem.

Well it's not like I'm going to keep them since now I have ball bearing fans with 100,000 hr MTBF. I just thought it was interesting because obviously the H100 in most cases will be mounted horizontally and thought corsair would have considered this.

Again, they probably did and I bet you the vast majority of the Fans will make it well beyond there MTBF rating.
As I stated in my original post, were this to be an issue we would have heard about it like the Fan controller one that hit the H100's on first launch.

Time will tell, but its probably just a bad batch you have.

I would though, even though you have replaced them inform Corsair.
Just so they know, and perhaps so they can investigate.

Yea I've already informed corsair about the issue and gave them the batch number for my H100. On the bright side my H100 unit itself works perfectly fine.

Thats good at least, happy to hear.

It seems that the H100 had the most teething pains of all the H series coolers released.
I've gotta admit when I saw the pic it had been a LONG time since I've seen that happen.

And I probably have....100-150 fans in my workshop.
