Scythe Ninja Copper Review Comment Thread

Well guys, after all of our CPU cooler reviews it was only a matter of time until we got one of the "Big Boys" on our test bench and that is what finally happened when Scythe stepped up to the plate and sent us their Ninja Copper.

Looks awesome AkG. I love the price to performance analysis!

I think they definitely got the fin spacing and heatpipe spacing right this time. The new update to the Rev 2 ninja should be pretty darn good!

Hey i got this CPU cooler a couple of months ago but i dont know how you guy get it to run soo cool.

cpu q6600 Not OC I have the G0 CPU-Z display
8GB ram corsair pc2-6400 @667
xfx 8800gt XXX Alph Dog 512MB
ASUS P5E WS Pro
2 Western Digital 74GB RAID 0
4 Western Digital 500GB Raid 5
Cool Master COSMOS Case, 4 120M Fans
2 TV TURNER
running Core temp 0.97.1 43C 42C 40C 40C
I can put my hand on the cpu cooler and it not that warm
running prime95 25.6.build.6 the temp goes to 65C 65C 60C 60C after 10 mins
I am using artic compound 5 T- paste
So I'm not sure how you got them temp to be 24C to 42C
If there's something you think i did wrong or am not doing please let me know.

p.s when i open the side of the case the cpu cooler is warm to the touch, not hot. I put my finger in the hole and held it for 5min and it wasn't too hot to touch.

Try remounting your cooler with good thermal compound. I remounted my TRUE the other day and saw a good 7*C drop in temps.

Nice review AkG!:thumb: Appreciate the price/performance analysis, very useful:clap:

Rather interesting how the Ultima-90 cools a quad better than the Ninja, but loses when cooling a dual core...shouldn't it cool a dual core better as well?

Great review.

I used the higher rpm ninja fan on my ninja copper, and I have a low-power cpu, the results are amazing:

I did that the other day, but I used the same compound, which is the good stuff, the # 5 termal compound. Cant remeber the name right now artic silver 5 or somthing like that. Been running prime95 since my first post and the temps are: 67C 66C 62C 62C. I was also wondering why they aren't all 67C or 62C?

Arctic Cooling MX-2 is better. It is also easier to apply, easier to clean off, and there is no Cure time. Also, non-conductive. Pretty much the best TIM there is...
