I thought IC7 = 7 carats of the stuff, IC24 = biggger 24 carat tube.

IC24 vs. IC7

Edit - I saw some posts of the IC stuff damaging chips or stripping the top layer of the chip? No references though. I use MX4 myself.

I was interested in comparing IC7 / IC24 to MX-4.... I just decided that IC is a rip-off.... :)

I read maybe 3 or 4 applications plus it's no less than $15 for the smallest (+ tax).

I can get MX-4 for $6 ordering online. Is IC twice as good or what is going on? No choice, I guess.

EDIT: I guess they're all expensive? Wow, I didn't realize... but, at least the Arctic Cooling stuff you can price match. :-/

IC 7/24 is costly because only indigo extreme is better then IC TIM.

But to be abrasive means moving parts against each other, and since cpu and HS do not move would that mean there is another effect happening that removes the cpu etching? corrosion? Oxidizing? or a the effect of 2 different types of metals that when make contact and moisture is added cause a current that promotes oxidization? I am not clear on how abrasion cause wear when these 2 parts do not move?is it due to heating and cooling effect so they do move and the paste removes the cpu markings?

I've used pretty much all the good quality pastes out there in the span of 10+years.

I'm currently pleased with the MX-4, although I am interested in trying the thermal paste from GELID Solutions
