I need a new cooler. AMD AM3+ socket Hi All: Motherboard: M5A97 (AM3+ socket) Processer: AMD Phenom II 965 I'll be putting an FX 8150 in when it arrives next month, so any cooler should fit both CPU's. My system is overheating with the stock cooler while playing BF3 and keeps on crashing. I would like to put in a new cooler to: A) keep things cooler and prevent BSOD/random restarts B) quiet things down (the stock cooler is LOUD) I am NOT overclocking, and would like to spend no more than $60 CAD. Any ideas? |

Used it 5 times, its quiet even at full speed and it does an amazing job of cooling the CPU. Venomous X RT..around $60 at canadadirect.ca I am running it with my 1090T with an ASUS M5A99X (AMD 3+) board. |
Well, I picked up a Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 cooler from CBIT at lunch. I also grabbed another 120mm fan to supplement the existing rear fan in my case. I'll set it to exhaust out through the top of the case. I guess I'll have some fun disassembling my computer so I can install this thing. |

Well, I put the Xigmatek in, as well as my new case fan. So far so good. I ran a few benchmarks, including 3D Mark 11, Unigine Heaven and a few hours of BF3. CPU temps don't rise above 41C under load. What a difference from having my computer crash because the cooling system couldn't handle BF3 or even the CPU test in 3D Mark. My next question now: I'd like install a fan at the top vent on my case (Thermaltake V4). However, I have clearence issues. A 120x120x25 fan contacts the Ram and the small MB power cord. Is there such a thing as a low profile fan? Say, no deeper than 12.5mm? |
