Except it is practical for a system designed to take advantage of the i5-2500K's integrated and halfway decent graphics -- gaming doesn't require silence, but a lot of the applications which really require silence don't need significant graphics capability.

The results were surprising, 36C at idle and 75C at load.

Maybe using a 2500, but no one would waste the money for the unlocked multiplier to have it sit on a H series unable to overclock, or as better yet its only able to run stock, overclocking i bet this thing would heat up very high.

no disrespect, but they took it easy on the mom jokes lately :D

eithewr way, that cooler is nice to look at,but for that surface area it should do better.
not that it doesnt keep a duallie or lower juiced quad at bay

Doesn't the little design etched into the surface that rests on the cpu kind of defeat the purpose of a nice flat area to transfer heat through?

Sorry, far too many beer tonight. Not sure if anyone but me can even understand that question.

someone would really buy that? One it would cost a lot and 2nd it would not be very effective. Why not just a buy nice case that would keep the noise of fans low. Use nice fans perhaps? I really don't think it's practical at all.

Maybe I'm not seeing it right... but it actually looks like there's very LITTLE surface area on that cooler... Those aren't fins, they're just small rods. Wouldn't an array of 1" dimpled fins have been a much more practical use of all that space? The way it is now, I bet it weighs no more that a Solytech PSU! ;) But hey, I'm no engineer.
