Default Corsair A50 or CM Hyper 212 Plus

Both these coolers are on sale at NCIX right now. Which would offer the best performance? The 212+ is $5 more than the A50.

Stock, the A50 is better. but you can mount 2x 120mm fans on the CM 212+, which will outperform the A50's one 120mm easily.

I'd take the CM 212+ hands down over the A50 any day.

PM'd the 212+ to $23....that is a friggin cheap AHSF assembly, results with a single Fan are reasonable as well...

Wouldnt it include clips for a second fan? I'm pretty sure they have a variation that comes stock with 2 fans. Also with the A50 being $10 cheaper than the CM212+ right now in the NCIX sale I would take that. In fact that's what i was going to do a week or two ago but the A50 sold out in the NCIX sale so I couldn't PM at Mem Express and got the CM212+ instead.

edit- Nevermind, checked it out the A70 is the one with dual fans, A50 doesn't come with extra fan mount, and the CM212 is on sale for $20 so it's only $5 more. I'd probably get the CM212, but if you just wanna roll with one fan then A50 would still work fine

The A70 was on sale for 25$ last week...

The best performance would be the hyper 212+ with push pull setup (require to get another fan).

I just bought the a50 this week. I haven't installed it yet but the fan is pretty loud to me even when using the resistor. I tried it with fan controller + resistor and it was more acceptable. It sucks that the fan isn't pwm but oh well for 15 dollars you can't really lose.

So I decided to pick up the 212+ since you can use a push/pull setup with it. so far temps are better than stock but aren't super amazing. I got my i5-2500K to 4.2Ghz with 1.25v and it idles around 40s and goes up to 55-60 on load with Prime95. I guess the high idle temps is because of my case(Lian-Li A05BN). Another issue is the fan seems to make this light scrapping noise. It isn't a a big issue since the sidepanel is always. I'll probably drop the cash for some Noctua fans down the road.

Thanks for everyone that helped.

Definitely consider some Noctua fans. I got a Push/Pull set up (NF-S12B) with the TRUE 120 and it dropped my both idle and load temps by 4 degrees Celsius.
