Cooler for i5 2500k - 1155

Building a new high spec gaming PC and will be getting the new i5 2500k processor. Will I need to replace the stock CPU fan? And if so, any suggestions that fit the 1155 socket? Thanks,

I have a CM Hyper 212+ installed in a push/pull configration (R4 fans) that seems to keep the processor cool. I'd highly recommend it for its price point.

I have a Prolimatech Megahalems (1 fan) and I find it overkill for my 2500K overclocked to 4.2 GHz. At full load (F@H SMP) my CPU doesn't go past 50 degrees Celsius even when I turn off my case's top exhaust fans.

If you look at some reviews, you'll see that you can overclock a 2500K even with the stock cooler, but it will be one of the louder fans in your case if you do so.

I was using a CM Hyper 212+ on my i7-2600k, but right now I'm on stock as one of the bolts to secure the backplate just won't thread properly anymore (moved from CM 690 case to CM HAF 922).
It did a great job of keeping my CPU really cool at ~55 on load at 4GHz when it was in the 690, wasn't using the stock fan and it was nearly silent with the replacements. I look forward to seeing how it'll do when I can get it installed in the HAF 922.

Unless your budget is high, then maybe a V6GT, Prolimatech Armaggedon, etc.

Yea I'll toss in another thumbs up for the CM 212+.

I'm using a V6GT on mine, and it's kinda overkill. I went to the store to get a 212+, but they were outta stock, and I wanted a cooler immediately lol
