fit 1356 heatsink for 1156?
 
I have a spare stock heastink for an i7 970 kicking around and I have an i3 that I'd like to upgrade the cooling. anyone tried to put a 1366 hs on a 1156?

the spacing is different, so unless you can move the pins a notch closer to the center of the unit?

shouldnt work.

no worries. by the eye some things look alike, but arent quite :) i made the one mistake when i picked out a cooler that only came with 1366 brackets, for the 1156 build.

going back to the stock 970 cooler, that thing is a beast compared to classic stock intel ones. i removed the fan and jacked two noctuas on each side for some dudes build, looked ghetto if you looked but the temps vs noise were mighty cool vs stock fan
