what is a decent air heat sink

I want to mount my MB in my case but before I do that I need a decent cpu heatsink ( air), until I get all the parts and put it together to see how good it will oc on air. Later on I will be moving to water cooling but for now it is going to be a air

If you dont want to OC a Q6600 then the arctic freezer pro is a great heatsink for the price.

For larger cases the sytheninja rev b is a relatively cheap option.

Some of the thermaltake sinks generally perform the best though although they are more expensive.

I'm not sure what the "best" is though. Take a look at some of the reviews here or the most popular products in NCIX.

Get the Thermalright Ultima 90! It is almost on par with the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and plus it is much lighter and cheaper!

All those HSF suggestions are worthless without knowing which CPU we are talking about. They're all very good choices though.

I guess I should rephrase this a little I want the best but I am a little worried about clearances and the weight on a P35 DS3L Mother board I heard that there might be some issues with a ultra 120 on some boards . oh and it will be a Quad Core so it will be fairly hot.

I am wondering about the clearances on the GA P35 DS3L mother board if I were to use this Thermalright ULTIMA-90 6 Heatpipe Cooler ( using push pull 120 fans ) also would I be able to use a different ( then stock) NB cooler because I have heard that they get pretty hot

I have a Thermalright IFX-14 on a DS3L with no issues what-so-ever. Also the NB cooler is pretty good for a passive design; if it over-heats due to overclocking, install an Antec Spot Cool on top of it and the problem is solved. That's what I did on all 3 Gigabyte P35 boards I have.
