CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ Hello guys, I'm new here, I need to ask you a question: After reading HC's review on the Hyper 212+, I considered getting one and using it passively to cool my Core 2 Duo e6300 (OC'd to 2.33GHz). My hard is: e6300 2*1GB Supertalent w/heatsink Will be getting 2 ISGC 12 fans from TT PowerCooler 550W PSU (can't remember the model). I need to go completely silent, I'll be mounting my PC inside a custom made box as I'm gonna use it as an HTPC (that can handle 60fps interpolation in videos). Anyway, I just need to know if I can indeed run the Hyper 212+ without the fan. I'm currently using a SI-120 from Thermalright to cool it (with a 12cm Panaflo). Thanks in advance :)! |
I don't think it would be your best choice for your purpose. One of the reasons it gets good reviews is the fan it comes with does a great job. Adding a 2nd and its even better. For fanless maybe a Noctua? |
if you undervolt your cpu perhaps you will meet success. thermalright has a new fanless monster, that thing cools an i7(fanless) : Ultimate CPU Cooling Solutions! USA |
I don't think it'll be able to passive cool, it's an absolutely wonderful cooler when used in a push/pull config (i5@4ghz for me) but it isn't really huge (compared to some of the other monsters out there...). I'd suggest getting a cooler specifically designed to passive cool (As Dan mentioned, Thermalright's come out with a passive cooler). Good luck. |
