The part that worried me the most was when they told the reviewer to just fill in the gap with thermal paste like it was glue or something.

Linus, did you get the temperatures for the physx chip, voltage regulators and memory? I would be interested in how well those metal sinks compare to the stock cooler's solution and the AMP's unisink for vrm's and ram :)

gpu-z can monitor a few of those sensors, and I believe everest can too, though I'm not sure if the physx chip has a sensor. Maybe you could use a sensor from a fan controller or something

I have hard time belive this is true. Many people are using this cooler with 470/480 and it work great. Tt have probably never contact Gelid or he decide to turn it to a sauce he love. If so many people have it working why this one don't work and why Gelid haven't send a new unit ( if the unit is the problem ). Also, he tried a single unit and tell people not to buy it. It's stupid to tell people not to buy it if your is defective. You have to try more then one to have a good methodology if the first is defective. That's one of the many reason I don't read Tweaktown anymore.

Could be a manufacturing defect or something, not EVERY product they ship is perfect and that's why there are RMA's.

If you read the entire article, he did get a second sample. And it had the exact same problem.

yea, I read the article, and read a thread on the EVGA forums about people using it with no issues, but majority are 480's... and maybe its ok for the 480, but not the 470s.

This still not explain why you have result like that
This is on Xtremsystem forum, this guy use a GTX470 from MSI and the cooler work fine. Many people got the same result which are dead good.

Here is another member Using a EVGA 470 ( same used in the review from TT )

Look at this entire thread.
Gelid Icy Vision - techPowerUp! Forums

But well, it's not usefull to argue here. We should ask someone here with a 470 to order one and see how it does. I would order one but am using a 260. But the blue UV fan would fit my Blue UV watercool for sure:P
